Phoenix's Yule Gift.

Well, well, well. What's it's been, like two weeks since my last blog? I would have like to have blogged something sooner, but we first need to do something that's worth blogging about. As far as the cob studio goes, well, there just hasn't been any progress to speak of. I hauled out a few sticks of the old flooring to prep them to be cut and installed. I leaned them against the studio and that's about as far as I got. So what's the hold up? Well, a few things actually, but I'd like to talk about one in particular.

Apparently I must have slept through our first winter storm because everything is covered in snow. No, actually we've been having lots of scattered and sporadic snow flurries these past couple of weeks, and with the temperature staying under 0 deg.C, none of it has had a chance to melt. So the layers of snow have been stacking, and now there's plenty of snow covering the landscape. I love it!

Ready For a Final. Huzzah!

Mid November and we are finally finished with the bulk of the Sioux Studio, and not a moment too soon. The temperature these days are pretty steady at around 0 deg. C (+/- 5 deg.) and the snow is falling and flying in fantastically flaky flurries. The trees and grasses are covered in a nice white blanket in the morning, and by the evening it's all melted away, only to be repeated the following day. We haven't gotten the 'big' snow storm yet, but I reckon it ain't far off. At least we've reached the point in the construction of our cob building to call it finished ...

Another fine weekend with oodles of progress. Yup, the roof is up! Finally. And not a moment too soon either. The forecast is predicting snow flurries for this coming week. They will be mixed with rain though, so I'm thinking we'll still be ok for working outside. At least we don't have to worry about having the inside of the studio being filled with snow, or getting wet. Well, to be honest, the roof is up, but not complete. There are still ways for the rain and snow to fall inside.

Bit By Little Bit.

Well, it was scheduled to have the roofing delivered over this past weekend but sadly it didn't happen. Not only was the lumber company late receiving it from the supplier, but we also didn't have the money to seal the deal. So it's there sitting in their yard waiting. But this Friday we will be making the final payment and hopefully be installing the metal on Saturday. But, even though we didn't roof over the weekend, we did do a few other things that were needed.
